Published potential results
The moves Ian's ideas made, with losses beside gains
These are potential results based on our tracking methodology, not necessarily results actually taken by members. Every result opens Ian's original write-up from the day he published it.
How these figures are measured
Figures are potential gains and losses on paper-tracked model positions measured against delayed market quotes, and your timing, fills, fees and taxes will affect your own result.
View all 135 losing trades on the public record
1,022 closed trades, 2020 to 2026: 882 winning, 135 losing, 5 flat.
How these figures are measured
Published percentages describe potential gains and losses on paper-tracked model positions. Every position we publish is a model position, tracked on paper against real delayed market quotes. We write alerts in the evening, while trading is closed. The entry is the recorded model entry, selected using the following trading day’s prices. Where no entry was recorded, the percentage is measured from the close before the alert, and the row says so. For model trades up to mid-July 2026, the exit is the exit price Ian recorded when the position closed. For model positions tracked since late July 2026, it is the highest price the option reached between entry and expiry, or the published 60 per cent stop, whichever came first. A position is recorded as a gain only if the option reached at least 20 per cent above the entry before the 60 per cent stop. If the stop came first, it is recorded at the stop. If it reached neither, it is recorded at its last price before expiry, or when the position closed. No member is claimed to have bought or sold at those prices. Best entry and peak exit prices are selected with hindsight; daily highs and lows alone do not establish their order within a session. A model stop does not guarantee an executable exit price. Losses appear beside wins. The figures exclude individual fills, fees, taxes and execution differences, and they show potential profit, never a return anyone received.
Research in practice
One closed alert, from Ian's weekly note to the result
This is the newest alert on the closed record, published October 13, 2026, alongside Ian's weekly note from that week. Read them in the order a member did.
STEP 01
Ian's weekly note from the day before
In each note, Ian gives his read of market conditions and names the stocks on his watch list.
“Three new positions, four closed, two gains above 100%”
Market context
The outlook remains cautiously bullish, with opportunities in stronger stocks balanced against the risk of volatility and further pullbacks.
What we are watching
Two stocks are on our watch list this week, with developments in cybersecurity and cancer-vaccine research providing potential catalysts.
These are on the watch list, not the alert list.
STEP 02
The alert, as Ian published it
These short excerpts give Ian's own words from three sections of his write-up: Why this trade, Catalysts for the Trade and Risk Management.
Weekly Options Trade - Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (NASDAQ: SPCX) CALLS
- Option Type
- CALLS
- Expiration Date
- November 6, 2026
- Strike Price
- $165.000
- Last close
- $7.65
Why this trade
Space Exploration Technologies Corp. presents an asymmetrical bullish setup as the equity consolidates above firm support at $157.29 while holding comfortably north of its upward-sloping 50-day moving average at $145.34. Fresh technical momentum points toward an immediate test of overhead resistance at $167.85.
Catalysts for the Trade
Nationwide Low-Band Spectrum Acquisition: The acquisition of Grain Management's 800 MHz wireless spectrum portfolio in an estimated $8 billion transaction secures essential terrestrial frequencies. These low-band signals penetrate physical structures effectively, unlocking direct-to-cell commercial connectivity that expands addressable market revenue over the contract duration.
Further Catalysts
Wall Street Coverage and Price Target Revisions: Barclays initiated coverage with an Overweight rating and a $254 target, while Pivotal Research raised its objective to $230. These upward revisions drive buy-side accumulation toward the $165.00 strike.
Risk Management:
We show 20%, 50% and 100% targets for each position, each measured from the price shown with them. On your own plan, work the same three levels out from the price you paid.
As a guideline you can consider opting out if a trade is down by 60% from that same price, though that is not automatic.
STEP 03
Build your own plan
Members enter the price they paid and their contract count, or any price for this example. The planner calculates the alert's 20%, 50% and 100% reference levels and the 60% stop in dollars from that price.
| Level | Option price | Your gain or loss ($) |
|---|---|---|
| +20% | $5.64 | +$188.00 |
| +50% | $7.05 | +$470.00 |
| +100% | $9.40 | +$940.00 |
| Stop loss · −60% | $1.88 | −$564.00 |
A STOP IS AN INTENTION, NOT A GUARANTEE. AN OPTION CAN GAP PAST IT OR EXPIRE WORTHLESS.
This example starts from the SPCX alert's best available entry of $4.70, and you can change the price or contract count to see the levels move.
Saving your plan is part of full membership. Everything above still works here and now, it just will not be here when you come back.
STEP 04
What happened next
Below are Ian's follow-up in the next week's note and the stock's move after the alert.
“Monthly expiry week: Four new alerts, three still open”
SPCX NOV 06 165 CALLS, alerted October 13 at 7.65. Best available 4.70. Stopped out at -60% on October 15.
SPCX. Although the call position closed at its published stop, the longer-term outlook remains supported by Starlink's expansion, Starship development and investment in satellite connectivity.
How these figures are measured
Figures are potential gains and losses on paper-tracked model positions measured against delayed market quotes, and your timing, fills, fees and taxes will affect your own result.
Weekly options lose time value as expiration nears, often fastest in the final days. The same stock move may be worth less to the option later in its life.
